Gibson Flying V model details

2022–2026 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1958 Korina ‘58 Flying V Reissue

Gibson offered the Historic 1958 Korina Flying V Reissue with either a black or white pickguard. Examples from the same broad production period appear with both colors, without a clear year-by-year pattern. The reported explanation is that guitars were supplied with both pickguards, allowing owners or dealers to fit either one. I have not found a Gibson document confirming that both guards were included in each guitar’s case; Gibson’s surviving price list and current product pages document black- and white-guard configurations, but do not say that both were bundled together. The 2026 date here refers to Gibson’s current official listing; dealer listings document earlier examples from 2022–2025, but do not establish uninterrupted annual production or factory totals.

Appearance and documentation

This is the standard Historic reissue, not the separate 2021 Collector’s Edition with Murphy Lab aging and Brazilian rosewood. See the 2021 Collector’s Edition page.
