Gibson Flying V archive · traditional 1967 reissue family

1974 Gibson Flying V

Two archive photographs show contrasting finishes. The white guitar is described as originally white, but factory-white status is unconfirmed; natural-finish surviving examples currently support Natural Mahogany for 1974.

Finish evidence

Natural Mahogany is the only finish supported by the surviving-guitar evidence reviewed for 1974. The white photograph remains in the archive but is not evidence of a confirmed factory-white release. No factory finish list for 1974 has been located.

White archive exampleOriginal archive notes an added square jack-socket reinforcement plate and otherwise original appearance; factory finish is unverified.
Natural exampleDescribed as the same guitar in its original Natural finish.
