1975 Gibson Flying V

“Limited Edition” decal note (1975–1977): Some Flying Vs from this period carried a gold oval serial decal with the words “Limited Edition”; others did not. Gibson documentation and surviving records reviewed so far do not explain the designation or show a consistent reason for its application. The decal alone does not establish a separate specification or a distinct limited-production run. See the serialization guide and Vintage Guitar discussion.

The 1975 archive documents regular-production examples and examples bearing a gold oval “Limited Edition” decal. The surviving record does not explain the designation. Reported finish totals add to 1,872 Flying Vs.

“Limited Edition” decalSome examples carry a gold oval decal behind the headstock. Its meaning and relationship to production totals are not established by the sources reviewed.

These are reported shipment figures, not a surviving Gibson finish-options sheet. Some examples carry the decal and a reported serial format; this does not independently establish a separate production run. See the original 1975 page for its legacy presentation.
